You are a story. So am I. We all have a beginning, but, thankfully, no ending yet. We are works in progress. No genres on our stories, though. That would be difficult, because at various times our lives might be labeled adventures or mysteries or tragedies or comedies. Some episodes could fit under the romance category. However much we want to protest, there are escapades that would make good soap operas, and, hopefully, at times other people might find us inspirational. But, there we are, living stories.
Can we plot our own destinies? Can we work out a denouement and an appropriate ending? Does the story just sort of happen and evolve as we go along?
We always hope our life story will last a good long while, and, Lord willing, that will be true. But, we can’t control when it will be declared finished. It would be nice, though, that when that time comes, those who know us will not be ready for it to stop. Like the reader who comes to the end of one of her favorite author’s books, if our families, friends, and acquaintances ask, “Is that all? I wanted to read more,” our life story will be a success.
