Purposely, I’ve used a variant spelling, a homophone of the word “right”. Lots of things are wrong with this old world, I should say, with the people of this old world. You don’t have to look very far to know that. To my way of thinking (which, I’m happy to say, is Southern and rural and kind of straight-forward) lawbreakers, those who habitually and with determination bring trouble to others are not readers of cozy mysteries.
And, as for the writer of cozies; well, what better way to vent frustrations or cause justice to prevail and bring evil people to their reward than wielding the pen? The wrong shall fail; the right prevail! At least, in a cozy.
Problems within a cozy mystery are always solvable with determination and logical thinking. There is very little actual violence and those who are violent do not win in the end! Reading calls for getting comfortable with a cushy chair or a pillow, a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and maybe a cat or dog curled up beside one. Now, what evil thoughts or purposes could creep in when one is engaged in such a pleasant activity? The world needs more cozy mysteries!
This is a good day for reading or writing because, well, because it’s cold, rainy, and windy outside. Even if you have to trek off into an unfriendly world to work, you can keep in mind those wonderful books awaiting you when you get back to your fireside.
A strange sound invaded my dreams and woke me, putting me in the mood for mysteries even before I got up. It took a while to figure out it was the wind wailing around the corner of the house, rattling whatever was loose. So, I’m up far too early but, believe me, I can use the time to good advantage to write what is wrong at least in Ednalee and Levi. I think Darcy and Flora have the coffee pot on and I’m always assured of a warm welcome in their house. In Ednalee, Ned and her friends are coffee drinkers too and Pat, at least, is an admirer of freshly-baked coconut cake.Paraphrasing an old commercial: How long has it been since you’ve read a good cozy? Well, partner, that’s just too long!
Cool, misty, and windy here today and a perfect day to curl up with a cozy; unfortunately, I have to brave the elements. (Better than blowing snow!) I hope you have a warm cozy day, Blanche.
Probably about the same weather as here. The thermometer says it’s not terribly cold but it feels cold to me!
Great post Blanche! Wishing you a wonderful day dear friend and happy writing. 🙂
