Rooftops and deck wear a dusting of white this morning while other places not so far away got much more than a skift of snow yesterday. It is cold though. Shivery, toe-tingling cold.
You know how a picture or a word or even a fragrance can stir a person’s memory. Yesterday the picture of an old-fashioned little girl’s dress set me thinking of things past. Do you remember when…
…little girls wore pinafores in the summertime
…men wore hats and tipped them when they met a woman on the street, even if they didn’t know her
…men always removed their hats when indoors
…we rode in the backs of pick-up trucks and nobody had ever heard of seat belts
…a Coke and a candy bar were special treats because we didn’t get them very often
…wash day happened once a week and after that, wearing clothes were starched and ironed
…before children left the table after a meal, we asked, “May I be excused?”
…the words of teachers and parents were law and we didn’t talk back
Anyway, those are some of the things I thought of yesterday. I guess as I grow older, once in a while, nostalgia comes to call.

Wish many of those were back. e.g. drives me crazy watching a man eating in a restaurant and wearing a cap! I want to go and take it off.
I feel the same, Sharon. And, when I see a man with a long braid down his back, I want to pull out a pair of shears and when his back is turned, snip it off. Can you imagine the repercussion? I’d be locked up immediately!
Not if he’s an old man with gray hair and you can run faster.
You’re absolutely right. Do you think it’s worth a try?
