When Yesterday Becomes Today

When Yesterday Becomes Today

In the book of life, yesterday’s page has been filled. Tomorrow’s page is a mystery. All we have is today. — Flora Tucker.

Old television shows can really take a person back, can’t they? This weekend a certain channel is showing the old TV series, Get Smart. It’s all about a secret agent, Maxwell Smart, and his beautiful partner, Agent 99. Max has a telephone in his shoe and lots of ideas about what to do to catch the agents of Chaos. Agent 99 is by his side to straighten him out and point him in the right direction.

The show ran in the 1960s and started Don Adams and Barbara Feldon; both of them are still alive today. Isn’t that great? I always admired Barbara’s clothing, hair style, and model-thin figure. Whatever she wore looked good and her hair always stayed in place.

Years have passed since that show’s popularity, yet it’s still fun to watch. Only thing is, where did those years go and how could they have flown by as quickly as they did?

But, years have a way of doing that. Life is like a book; yesterday’s pages have been written, today is a clean, white page and tomorrow is yet unknown–a nebulous mystery waiting for its own words to carry the story along.

If your life or my life were a book, would it be a comedy, a tragedy, an adventure story, a romance, a mystery? Or, would it be a combination of all those categories? And, in this book of life, many small stories would exist, combining into one large volume. On some of the pages, we wouldn’t have had any control over what was written. On other pages, the words were our own decisions. But, good, bad, exciting, boring, happy or sad, the book is our own. Today’s page has just begun.
