What Was on the Old Well?

What Was on the Old Well?

Gray, lowering skies this morning. Everything is still, waiting. Waiting for what? April showers? Spring thunderstorms?

Another time, another place, Ned McNeil is waiting too. She’s waiting for deputy Gerald Mills to show up. You see, it is on a morning like this…well, not exactly like this, but it is April. However, the morning is much earlier; in fact, a full moon shines down on Granger’s Mansion. Ned glances out her window and notices something strange about the old well in her yard.file00019491328

Now, that well has a history. It was here, on this very brick curbing around the well, that a murder happened, forty years ago. And now, a body is lying in that same spot. Who is it? Is Ned hallucinating?

Well, of course, Ned being Ned, has to investigate and what she finds sends a chill through her that comes from more than the cold April wind.

Did I mention the moon? Did I tell you it was full and bright? And did you surmise this could be the sequel to Moonlight Can Be Murder?

Peg, you want Ned to have a job, be gainfully employed in some nice occupation. Well, she has found her niche, decorating and refurbishing the historic houses of Ednalee and then selling them at a handsome profit. What fun to get inside the wonderful homes of the past and turn them into eye-catching beauties! I can’t wait to see them; can you?

  1. Wow! What a terrific idea for her. I love it. She’ll have lots of things to learn and lots of new people to meet! Did I say I love it?!

    • Thanks, Peg. At our last Critters meeting, the ladies were suggesting several different job possibilities and to each one I would reply that Ned knows nothing about them. But with this one, what Ned doesn’t know will be fun for Ned to learn. Right? What do you think of GH’s new cover idea?

  2. What a fun job for Ned! Great idea!
