The moon, shining down on Granger’s Mansion, saw some strange and puzzling sights. What, for example, was the animal who stopped by one moonlit night to pay Ned McNeil a visit? But, long before that, what were the strange things that went on in the moonlight which were furtive and secret and had an effect many years later on Ned and her friends?
Strange and eerie and puzzling. But, inside that Victorian house, Ned and her friends enjoyed the present and their friendship and a good, old-fashioned get-together in her latest cozy mystery, By the Fright of the Silvery Moon. It wasn’t a party exactly, but a meeting of a club, the Old House Club. Food is an important part of every gathering when women get together to chat and plan and admire old houses and Ned’s luncheon was no exception. Soup, salad, and brownies livened up things considerably.
If you enjoy brownies too, and would like to try baking the ones Ned baked, here’s the recipe which, by the way, is the answer to today’s Mini-Mystery.
Ned’s Irresistible Brownies
1 Cup Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 Cup Melted Butter
1/2 Cup Flour
1/3 Cup Hershey’s Cocoa
1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
Mix together sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add melted butter and mix well. Add to the batter the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Mix until blended. Pour into a greased pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool and frost with your favorite frosting or eat as it. Delicious!
