Rain is falling in NW Arkansas, but that isn’t all…hail peppered my deck and rattled against the house a few minutes ago. Lightning, thunder–what is this? Isn’t the official start of winter less than a week away? Doesn’t Christmas wait just around the corner? Could it be that autumn is having a hissy fit at being edged out by the cold, dark season? Not to be outdone, winter has another treat for us–freezing rain and sleet are forecast to move in. There’s one thing for sure–weather isn’t boring. Surprising, sometimes unpleasant, but not boring.
Just as an encouragement, here’s a little rhymed verse to remind us to hang on and endure.
Secrets
No one would guess it; No one would know,
But curled and cuddled under the snow
A season of secrets is waiting to grow.
Acres of daisies, Carpets of clover
Are resting and waiting
Til Winter is over.
