My Wednesday thoughts are ramblings, here, there, and all over the place. Yesterday, Matt, Nathan and I took advantage of the warm weather to bone up on our basketball skills. Actually, the boys did a lot more shooting baskets than I did but, for an old lady, I wasn’t too bad. The best part was having fun together.
As the election draws ever nearer, I am reminded of a wheel spinning faster and faster but guess what? We’re on the wheel. Will the wheel slow down and will we continue on our way as a Republic or will we be spun off into many different directions? So much depends on this election. I hope Christians are praying and we will vote for a candidate who, we hope, will lead our Nation in the direction our Founders intended. If we abandon our foundation, we have nothing left but a lot of different beliefs and agendas taking us in different directions, all of them away from the Constitution.
Today, I need to bake some brownies for a luncheon tomorrow. The seniors at church (why can’t I get used to being a senior?) will be having a breakfast and our group leader, Charlie, will show a video of their recent trip. This will include pictures of the life-size replica of Noah’s Ark.
So, here it is November and my October gourds will have to come down from the mantel and my few turkey gourds will go up. On my front porch are two small pumpkins. They fit in with November too but I guess I’ll take them down. When Sara was just a little girl, after Halloween we would take our jack-o-lanterns to the back yard, and in a small ceremony at the back fence, we’d smash them on the ground. We repeated a poem about hoping they’d come up next year and they usually did!
Remember the weather wand I bought, a Balsam Fir twig from the north woods of Maine? It’s a pretty good predictor of weather. Right now, it’s undecided. It could move up for fair weather or down for rainy. I’m hoping for the rainy. The temperature is too warm for the first of November.
Oh, I keep forgetting to tell you that Darcy and Flora have gone on a cruise! My nose is out of joint because I’ve never been on a cruise! My friend Mary Alice took them along when she and her husband went on a cruise for their anniversary. I’ll have to remember to ask Mary Alice how Darcy and Flora enjoyed it and if they got sea sick.
