Some rumble or grumble got through my dreams. Opening my bleary eyes, I looked around. What was that noise? Finally, it penetrated my foggy brain. Thunder! And lightning. And rain. What a nice way to wake up on an August morning.
According to the Farmer’s Almanac, there’ll be a full sturgeon moon August 10. What does a large, bony fish have to do with the moon? Whatever it is, this one is supposed to be really bright. Does the moon exert some sort of hypnotic spell over people? I don’t t believe it hypnotizes us, but, it stands to reason that, since our bodies are a large per cent water, and the gravitational pull of the moon exerts enough pressure on the oceans to cause tides, it might have some sort of effect on people. I’m pretty sure it influences kindergartners. At least, that was what I thought when I taught them, quite a number of years ago. So, if you find yourself feeling wild and woolly as August 10 nears, blame it on that bright sturgeon moon!
In Moonlight Can Be Murder, Ned wonders if the full moon has wreaked havoc on several of the lives that have resided at Granger Mansion through the years. Dink Renfroe seems to think so. And, even if Vermouth Decker doesn’t know nor care about full moons, it could be that he is influenced by them anyway.
Yesterday at Fran’s luncheon, all eighteen ladies there were influenced by nothing but good fellowship, good food, and fun around the bountiful table. Fran’s flowers are at their zenith, with those in back being just as lovely as those in the front yard. Fran was my inspiration for starting a container garden. I’m sure she has a green thumb and the flowers in her garden seem to be trying to out-do each other in riotous blooming.
Yesterday was special to me because Sara went with me to the luncheon. Although she was quite a bit younger than anyone else present, I believe she had a good time and everyone welcomed her. Five of us cozy critters were among Fran’s guests: Jane, Nancy, Peg, Janet and I.
Isn’t it great how the Lord rearranges schedules? I was planning to take a short trip this morning, but I don’t like driving in the rain and the outing wasn’t essential, so I’ll stay home. Besides, why should a good, rainy day be wasted on anything other than writing? This is a perfect time to go to Ednalee. Moonlight Can Be Murder is finished and I’ll be very glad when the book is published and you can go to that small Oklahoma town with me.
What a great post tying the moon, your mystery, my lunch, ladies and flowers, Cozy Critters and Sara all together! And thank you, it’s always a blessing to have you! Feel free to bring your delightful Sara any time! : )

Thanks, Fran. She really enjoyed being there. I think her favorite dish was the tuna salad and Miss Kitty was a highlight!
