It’s a drizzly, chilly Saturday morning. With only one cup of Folgers down, I am in need of another. But first, let me tell you about a goofy dream. Do you dream after you go to sleep or are you one of those rare people who doesn’t dream or who doesn’t remember them?
Anyway, there I was in my living room and there was a rodent under the sofa. Finally, I was able to capture it and it didn’t seem to be afraid of me. It looked like a rat but it was brown and white. So, I determined it was someone’s pet rat which had gotten lost and had somehow gotten into my house. Why did I dream such a crazy dream, unrelated to anything that had happened in real life?
Speaking of dreams, the second Ned McNeil cozy mystery, By the Fright of the Silvery Moon, opens with Ned’s dream, or rather, a nightmare. And, actually, this dream is an inkling of the things that are about to happen in Ned’s life and, in Ned’s case, they are just as scary as her dream.
Hmmm. One dream interpreter writes, “a friendly rat in your dream can indicate that you’ve made peace with someone you formerly didn’t trust—and that person could even be you. You could be making peace with, or beginning to like a part of yourself, that you previously rejected, and now you’ve begun to reconcile that.” Maybe that rings a bell. Could be it’s going around too. I saw a squirrel in the library parking garage yesterday and mistook it for a fat rat. It had its tail hugged close. 😀
Hmmm. That’s very interesting, Kimberly. I’ll think on that. Thanks for writing.
Actually I just try to forget whatever dreams I do have. I don’t have them very often.
Some dreams are interesting and some are troubling. If I go to sleep reading a book, I’m apt to continue the book in my dreams. Heh.
