Warm Hearts, Snow Dusting

Warm Hearts, Snow Dusting

A dusting of snow lies across my deck like a drift of talcum powder. The temperature sank below freezing last night and everything outside is cold! Bird feeders are full so when the feathered and furry creatures wake up, they can at least get some fuel in their tummies.

As Peg and I journeyed to Fran’s luncheon yesterday, the sun shone and all was bright. (We missed Jane who wasn’t able to go this time.) When we left Fran’s, the sky had clouded over and the temperature was on its way down. In between those two times, though, we enjoyed a delicious luncheon and warm conversation with the many friends gathered.

Since this was the February luncheon, Fran’s motif was Valentine’s Day and the color was red! We lunched on several salads, corn chowder and potato soup, and an array of tempting desserts. It was fun to catch up on what’s going on in the lives of these ladies, many of whom I see only at Fran’s. A new house is going up for one, others are in the organizing mode of cleaning out closets, still others are excited about a Bible study and new things learned.

Believe it or not, my azalea bushes are putting out new leaves. I’m afraid they will get nipped but maybe they are protected enough by the house that they’ll make it through. I can only hope.

Whatever the weather is where you live, whether it’s sunshine, a dusting of snow, or several feet of the white stuff, I hope your day is a good one and that you feel the warmth of God’s love.
