Wednesday morning and my thoughts are wandering here and there. I see walkers go up the hill and wonder about them. What are their interests, their likes and dislikes? What are their goals in life? Are they happy? Behind every person is a story–the reasons they are here, where they came from, what they hope the future holds.
Undoubtedly, each has his own viewpoint, his way of looking at things. Each one is precious to someone and needs to feel loved and safe and hopeful.
Because I enjoy history and have a curiosity about what makes people tick, I like to read true stories about how people have overcome hardships in the past. The people I read about have faced personal problems while dealing with events happening around or to them. They’ve not been perfect. Sometimes they failed; sometimes, they succeeded. Success came to those who didn’t give up. No matter how many mistakes or how hard life became, they kept on. That took courage. Courage didn’t mean never getting things wrong or not being fearful; courage meant getting up one more time after being knocked to the ground.
Even when it seems ridiculous, hope keeps us going. We get up, we move forward, not content with defeat. We put one foot in front of the other and we move up that hill.
