This morning is so beautiful, so cool yet sunny, that I enjoyed wandering around my yard, looking at things. Yes, we desperately need rain and yes, I’m afraid the temperature will climb, but for right now, it’s perfect. The seeds I planted in the herb garden are actually looking sturdy. Brave little fellows, to lift their heads into a hot, hot summer. The morning glory has climbed up the trellis and now, I’m waiting for the first blooms. In a shady spot, the fern and red shamrock from Tahlequah through my sister-in-law and ultimately from Mom and my sister Helen, are still OK.
I even saw some crepe myrtle blooms which means it didn’t succumb to last year’s late freeze after all, and is still thriving.
In the front yard, my grape vine looks healthy, I’m glad to say. The other plants, not so much. I had planted several flowers, gifts from my children, and the squirrels have eaten or dug up almost all of them. Not enough wire to cover the pots and, after all, how pretty could they look when they are topped with unlovely wire?
But, the sunflower wreath by the front door with the American flag at the top is cheery. The bird baths have water and are awaiting thirsty birds, and this Wednesday’s wanderings have been wonderful. Wherever your day finds you, I hope many blessings and peace find you there too.
