Slightly damp but undaunted and undeterred, the Cozy Critters arrived for our Critique yesterday. We were afraid that some would have to come by boat (just kidding) but even though the day was rainy and dark outside, inside, my house glowed with the warmth of friendship. We missed Nancy but Helen was back after travels out West and we welcomed a new critter, Judy. Everyone was bursting with enthusiasm for books, stories, all things literary and few things that were not.
Judy, who is a Texas native and a gifted poet, read two of her poems for us, “God’s Voice” and “Blue Bonnets.” Jane brought some newspaper clippings to me as inspiration for a book cover for the fourth Darcy and Flora. She also delighted us with a children’s story she had written called Charlotte, the Mouser Cat. Who were Charlotte’s best friends? Mice, of course!
Peg, I’m glad to say, is back into reading, big time. Some of her favorites are Tying the Knott by Elizabeth Craig and Meow if It’s Murder by T. C. LoTempio. She has also read a lighthouse mystery by Eva Gates, By Book or By Crook.
More victories for Helen! She shared two more of her devotionals in Vision Magazine, “Diversionary Tactics” and “Choices, Choices.” We also got to hear two more of her brand-new writings, “Support Within” and “Alfalfa Protein“.
I read a chapter from the new Darcy and Flora cozy. The group offered some insightful advice concerning how I had worded Darcy’s trip into Levi the morning she discovered a dead body outside of Old String’s burning shack. Anyway, their suggestions were right on the mark!
In case you missed my article on Characters in The Cozy Cats Chronicle yesterday, here is that link: http://thecozycatchronicles.com/…/who-is-that-character-any…
Authors really enjoy good book reviews, Even though The Cemetery Club is getting quite a few, Grave Shift and Best Left Buried haven’t gotten quite so many. However, I want to share a review of Best Left Buried that warmed the cockles of my heart. Thanks, Kathy!
“This is the second book I’ve had the pleasure of reading in the Darcy and Flora series, but will not be the last! Looking forward to many more ventures with this mother and daughter duo!!!”
And, more good news: for a short time, Amazon has reduced the price of Grave Shift to $2.99. How about that?
Looks like another cloudy, drippy day in NWArkansas but hey! Have you ever heard of a better July? We’re getting plenty of rain, the temperature is really pleasant and flowers are growing beautifully. Just another reason I love living in the South!
Hi Blanche. I have Grave Shift in my To-Be-Read stack for the summer. I promise I’ll leave you a review once I’ve read it. You can find my reviews at beechtreehollow.wordpress.com. I also post on Goodreads and Amazon.com.
Thanks so much, Stacey. I appreciate that! I love the name Beech Tree Hollow!
