Good things come in twos, don’t they? Today, two of the Darcy and Flora cozy mysteries are listed at the special price of only ninety-nine cents for each mystery as ebooks on Amazon. The Cemetery Club usually is as this low price, to introduce you readers to the series but for the next few days (only my publisher knows how many days) the second book in the series, Grave Shift, is at the same price. Then, it’ll go back to its usual. As a special, it’ll be listed on Ereader News Today at the price of 99 cents.
Just as we parents had no idea of the joys of parenthood until our first child was born, so I had no idea of the absolute fun of writing cozy mysteries until Barbara and I wrote The Cemetery Club. I lived that book! I sat right there at the table with Darcy and Flora, enjoying a cup of coffee and trying to figure out who killed Ben Ventris and why. My heart was in my throat as they rolled off Deertrack Hill and survived, struggled through the wilderness, and wound up in an ancient cave. It was so exciting, Barbara and I had to write another book.
Grave Shift was no less fun to write. By this time, I knew Darcy, the retired investigative reporter from The Dallas Morning News, and her mother Flora Tucker pretty well. So, when they got the letter from a distraught woman begging them to help find her daughter, I knew they wouldn’t turn their backs. Their search led them to Texas and a ranch where they met some friendly people and a couple who were–well, they were downright suspicious-acting.
But, it was fun! Writing the books was fun and so was living the adventures with Darcy Campbell and Flora Tucker. With each of the following books, Best Left Buried and Grave Heritage, my friendship with these two deepened and I looked forward to what mystery they would be involved in next.
If you by chance have not read The Cemetery Club or Grave Shift, today’s the day to remedy that situation. Everybody loves a bargain and this bargain has excitement thrown in as an added bonus. Happy reading!
