In Tune with Tuesday

In Tune with Tuesday

Thank you to all the veterans out there! And thank you to my two brothers Tracy and Richard, for their years of service in the Navy. Posthumously, to my brother Thurman and nephew Clint. I appreciate you!

The uninvited guest I mentioned yesterday has arrived. She slipped in quietly last night and is beginning to make herself felt. The thermometer registers 30.6 right now but tonight it’s supposed to bottom out at 22. Yesterday, I scurried around , putting away yard ornaments, tucking some of the prettier potted plants onto the porch, unhooking water hoses. The visitor, who hails from the frozen North, brought her attendant wind and, from what I hear, may be followed by a touch of snow. The hatches are battened down, so I’ll wait and see what transpires.

Yesterday, while listening to the news, I heard the word integrity.  What a wonderful word. Why don’t I hear it more often? According to my dictionary, it means honesty, doing the same as what you say. Trustworthiness and integrity are the inner core of a person, and they show up in actions, thoughts, and deeds. I also heard yesterday about a man who believes the American people are stupid. I would say that person is lacking in integrity, among other things.

Do you remember when I mentioned a book I read as a child, Understood Betsy by Dorothy Canfield Fisher? I ordered it as an e-book and this morning finished re-reading it. It’s a marvelous book and I, as an adult, enjoyed it just as much or more than when I was a child. I think it should be on the book list of every child and of us adults too. let me know if you have read it.

Car lights and house lights glow softly through this cloudy, dark Tuesday morning. They are little splashes of welcome as I gaze out at the restless trees. Would you believe this is my third cup of coffee? I’m looking forward to another day of writing and enjoying the coziness of home.

  1. I always remember my father’s favorite scripture: Ps. 26:11 “But as for me, I will walk in my integrity.” You’re right; we don’t hear the word much anymore.
Can’t believe how cold it is out your way. It is cold here with a thin layer of snow on the ground this morning but even though we expect it, it still takes awhile to get used to.

I love your father’s favorite verse. Yes, and things are looking dampish although I don’t see snow or rain yet. I have a niece in Minneapolis and I hear they are getting some snow! I imagine your place looks Christmas-y.

  2. I think the better word to describe it is COLD! The colored lights people put up are beautiful but when we come back from Texas, they are still up and on. Also, seeing the nativity scene out on a front yard covered with a foot of snow just doesn’t seem right! (as you can see, I do belong in a warmer clime.) One of our sons lives in Minneapolis. I’ll have to see how much snow they’re getting. Well, Blanche, all I can say is, ‘keep warm!’
Sorry, this must be my rant day!!

I understand your warmer clime needs! Don’t worry about ranting. That’s what this comments section is for. I do a lot of ranting myself!!
