When the sunlight tips the treetops
And the grass is damp with dew,
As the air is filled with birds’ song,
Then my thoughts return to you.
Something about the early morning puts hope in my heart. Everything is fresh and unspoiled. It’s another day, filled with possibilities. It is as old as time yet I never tire of it. A puzzle, isn’t it? But, a nice one.
The sun is just tipping the leaves at the top of my neighbor’s trees. Below it, all is still dark. Many people are not yet awake, but the birds are. I wonder how much sleep a bird needs? It requires a lot of food and energy to take care of a nest full of babies.
Wherever you are this morning, I hope your day is starting well and is filled with many happy things and moments for reading–cozy mysteries, of course.
