This Day

What are you doing this nippy January day? Actually, ten degrees is a bit more than nippy. Thankfully, we don’t have a howling wind or blowing snow or sleet. But, it is cold. This means I’ll need to replenish bird baths for thirsty birds and make sure they have enough sunflower seeds.

There’s one form of wildlife in my yard that I never worry about–squirrels. They come equipped with wonderful fur coats and a long, bushy tail that is perfect for flipping over their heads to keep out rain or snow. I imagine they circle it around them and bury their noses in it when they sleep. And, they have a yard full of acorns, plus, of course, the sunflower seeds which they’re sure are meant for them.

This is a perfect day to stay inside and paint or write. Or, read. I’ve found a new series that I’m enjoying and another Ned mystery is swirling in my brain. Plus, there’s a cute Valentine gourd idea I want to try.

Stay safe and warm today. Or, if you’re in a warmer clime, just stay safe and well. And, don’t forget to take a book along with you, wherever you go, just in case you have a few minutes free.
