They’re Coming!

Nature itself seemed to recoil at the horror before Darcy Campbell and her mother, Flora Tucker. Trees bowed and swayed to a wild wind and angry clouds brooded over gray headstones. But, there was no doubt about it–a bare, human foot stuck stiffly from a mound of dirt and limbs heaped in the ancient graveyard.

So begins The Cemetery Club, the first in the mother/daughter sleuth series by Blanche Day Manos and Barbara Burgess.

Sunlight gilded the leaves of the oak by the front gate and a chill wind fanned my bedroom curtain. Andrea Mott Worth, young and undoubtedly full of hopes and dreams for the future, had disappeared even more completely than those leaves blowing off the tree and going who knew where.

The second book in the Darcy/Flora trilogy, Grave Shift,  finds Darcy and her mother about to get involved in the strange disappearance of a young woman from the small town of Levi, Oklahoma.

Shaking with fear and anger, I scrambled to my feet. The dingy gray morning had never looked so good. I clawed at the spider webs clogging my nose, mouth and eyes. When I could see again, I lunged toward Cub, swinging at him with the flashlight.

When Darcy and Flora unwrap the package that was thrown into a well nearly a hundred years earlier, they uncover a secret that was, perhaps, Best Left Buried.  Greed, a kidnapping, and unrelenting danger plague this pair of sleuths straight through to the surprising finish of the newest book in the series.

The good news is that these three books, written with co-author Barbara Burgess, will be re-published in August or September of this year by Pen-L Publishing in Fayetteville.  New covers, formatting, and editing will entice the reader to read all three. Each is a stand-alone book, and a good read in itself, but it’s nice to follow Darcy and Flora chronologically too. The Cemetery Club begins with Darcy returning home to Levi, Oklahoma, becoming involved with solving the death of a family friend, and realizing her romance with old flame, Grant Hendley could easily re-ignite. The second book, Grave Shift,  follows Darcy and Flora into danger and a close brush with death, while Grant and Flora’s lawyer friend, Jackson Conner grow in importance to both women. And, Best Left Buried? Well, it holds more than a few surprises and concludes the way Flora suspected it would.

As you might guess, I’m excited about the three books re-appearing together and, as I wait with you for their appearance, I hope you are anticipating their arrival too.
