Last night, I attended my grandson’s spring chorus concert at his school’s new performing arts center. What a tremendous thing. If anyone is uncertain or critical of the younger generation, I’d invite them to go to hear the voices of youngsters raised in song. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen more talent among teens than I saw last night.
Music is the common denominator of life. No matter the language, no matter the differences in cultures, music spans the gap. It speaks to the hopes, the dreams, the heartaches, the joys of us all. We may not be able to express ourselves with words, but we can certainly express ourselves with music.
Congratulations to the kids who worked so hard to bring the concert to us, their moms, dads, grandparents, and friends. Congratulations to their teachers who know just how to inspire them to do their best. Discipline, talent, love of life and the joy of singing–it was in full blossom last night. I was blessed to be there.
