Last night, we got a wonderful, refreshing rain. Everyone except Nemo appreciates it. I hear a bird out front singing away and in back, a little wren voices his approval. Grass has greened overnight and my poor flowers, what the squirrels didn’t eat, are grateful. I can tell.
This Friday is the last one in July, and so it goes. One month in, one month out. The seasons change. That’s the way it has always been.
Speaking of Nemo, who is an animal, did you know animals are sometimes pretty good weather forecasters? Nemo started getting nervous last night before I heard thunder and before rain got here. I wonder if he reacts to air pressure or feels a tingling in his feet? Or, since his nose is ultra-sensitive, does he smell something different?
I’ve read that animals sense when earthquakes are going to happen. I’m guessing that, by the time they sense it, the quake is imminent. A cat, licking her paws, signals that rain is on the way.
Nature and animals–fascinating subjects and a lot of fun to study.
