The Heat of Summer

The Heat of Summer–that’s the name of the poem Nancy wrote. She read it to us yesterday during the critique, a beautiful poem, commemorating some of the favorite moments in these lovely days of summer.

In Nancy’s busy life this summer, she has been to a women’s conference in Branson, Christian Communicators’ Conference, where she created a video and spoke about trusting in God’s grace.

Nancy also recently attended a writers’ conference in Siloam Springs, where she heard Roy Lessin speak. This is one of my favorite quotes from Mr. Lessin: Things are temporary, relationships last forever. Nothing can replace the time we spend investing in the life of another.

A Rebel in My House by Sandra Merville Hart is a new book which Nancy is enjoying. I can’t wait to check it out–it sounds intriguing.

Jane read her newest rhymed poem, Rocky and Ginger Take a Chance. This is a delightful children’s story about Rocky the Rooster and Ginger the Hen. Their curiosity got them into a terrible predicament, but, never fear, their escapade ended happily.

Peg is reading Staged for Murder by J. C. Eaton. Peg is a happy reader and has many to be read books on her list. She enjoys books with a bit of humor, books with likable characters, and plots that keep her guessing until the end.

I read a couple of more chapters in Moonstruck and Murderous. The Cozy Critters gave me some good ideas for a future book cover picture: a balcony overlooking a hedge, a dog and a cat in the picture, a moon sailing through the sky, of course.

Happily and surprisingly, Amazon has reduced the price of Moonlight Can Be Murder. Right now it is available for $1.97. How long will this price last? Only the shadow knows!
