And, might I add, she is a jolly, happy soul–rather akin to St. Nick. Because yesterday, my birthday, was a gladsome one! It started with my family taking me to breakfast. The delicious aroma of coffee as I walked in the door of the restaurant told me the rest of the food would be just as enticing.
After breakfast, my birthday continued to a plant-buying session with my daughter-in-law and granddaughter at the helm. And you know the really neat part? They not only bought the flowers, they planted them! Now how is that for going the extra mile?
To add spice to the day were the phone calls, birthday cards, and e-good wishes from family and friends. Thank you all!
The weather was perfect, the family was perfect and now my container garden is on its way to another colorful summer. If you’ll remember earlier pictures of this garden, you can see how it has flourished, taking new directions, going toward different horizons through the years. It has become comfortable with being what it is–a place of lovely flowers, attractive to birds, butterflies, and bees.
Don’t you think we should be that way too–comfortable with who we are but not adverse to looking at different horizons, discovering our inner selves but mindful and respectful of others, blooming where we’re planted but ready to change with the seasons.
My birthday was so special, I just may have another one tomorrow.
