This morning, as I got out of my comfortable bed, I thought about the things that keep me warm at night–quilts. And then, I thought about how life is much like a homemade quilt. Some of the colors are bright, some are dark, but they all go together to make the quilt. Some of life is dark too, hardships and heartaches comes to all.
The quilts I have were hand made by my grandmother, my mother, and a very dear friend. Sleeping beneath them is being warmed by generations of love. The hands that put the quilt pieces together helped to forge families and, ultimately, a nation. The people behind the quilts had faced hardships and heartbreaks as well as happiness. They had persevered, never giving up through hard times and good times.
True friends are like that–I can depend on them to warm me when the world is a cold, dreary place.
A Blessing: “Blessed are those who willingly walk with you through the good and the bad, bringing warmth and comfort when needed most.”
