I have a tendency to worry too much. Now, worrying has never done me a bit of good but as my son said, if I didn’t have anything to worry about, I’d think of something. So really, the title of this post is misleading. There are no benefits of worrying. Or have I missed something? If you can think of any good things that come from worrying, let me know. As the poem goes, “For every problem under the sun, there is a solution or there is none. If there is a solution, go and find it. If there is none, then never mind it.”
I found a much longer poem on worry in a book, All Things Are Possible Through Prayer by Charles L. Allen. The author of this poem is unknown.
“Worry? Why worry? What can worry do? It never keeps a trouble from overtaking you.
It gives you indigestion and sleepless hours at night. And fills with gloom the days, however fair and bright.
It puts a frown upon the face and sharpness to the tone. We’re unfit to live with others and unfit to live alone.
Worry? Why worry? What can worry do? It never keeps a trouble from overtaking you.
Pray? Why pray? What can praying do? Praying really changes things, arranges life anew.
It’s good for your digestion, gives peaceful sleep at night. And fills the grayest, gloomiest day with rays of glowing light.
It puts a smile upon your face, the love note in your tone. Makes you fit to live with others and fit to live alone.
Pray? Why pray? What can praying do? It brings God down from Heaven to live and work with you.”
So, so true. Choose rather to trust!
Dear friend, I was going to do a comeback and tell you that at least “worry” burns fat cells or expends extra energy for that. However, it does put the soul in a stall mode. Great thoughts today. ck
