The Beginning

The Beginning

Easter–a time of a new beginning. To me, Easter, more than January, seems like the start of a new year. Winter is past; spring is here. The earth is renewed with warmth and rains. And, it is the celebration of the Lord’s resurrection.

Easter is a time for hope, for beginning again, for looking forward instead of back. The reason for the celebration is that Jesus is alive. The God I serve is living and not dead.

As I read John 20, I can almost hear the anguished sobs of Mary Magdalene as she stood at the Lord’s tomb. As Mary looked into the empty tomb, she saw two angels who asked her why she was crying and she answered that her Lord had been taken away . She didn’t know where He was.

Then, Jesus appeared to her and her desolation turned to joy. Her Savior lives! He was dead but is alive.

That’s the joyful message upon which we Christians base our hope. We serve a living Savior, one who loves us and commands us to love others. This is the message of Easter. Jesus is alive and because He lives, so shall we!

He Is Risen

  1. He is risen indeed! Hallelujah!

  2. I love that Easter greeting, Missy. One person says, “He is risen.” And the second person answers, “He is risen indeed.” That puts joy in the heart!
