Thanksgiving’s Afterglow

This is a decidedly wet, soggy, dark, rainy morning and I am basking in Thanksgiving’s afterglow. It is a warm, contented, drowsy feeling. Yesterday was such a special day. As my family and I gathered around Mom’s hundred-year old table, laden with food, my heart overflowed with thankfulness to God for His goodness.002

The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful family and plunked me down in the middle of them. They welcome me and I am warmed by their love and caring. As I was thinking over my many blessings, I realized I sort of take my upbringing for granted when I shouldn’t. I am very thankful for my parents and the timeless, bed-rock values they taught me. Those values are a foundation upon which my life rests.

Speaking of afterglow, a day like this could be counted as summer’s afterglow, a blending of seasons when nature is getting ready to change her leafy gown for the snows of winter. What to do with such a day? Well, read a delicious book, of course, preferably, a cozy mystery. As you know, writers thrive on good reviews, of hearing from people who enjoy what we write. Here is a portion of a recent review of Moonlight Can Be Murder that warmed the cockles of my heart:009 (2)

A feisty lady who packs heat as well as a deep faith, Ned doesn’t believe in ghosts even when she sees one floating in front of her own eyes. Determined to dispel the myth that the old house is haunted–and even more driven to know the truth about her uncle’s conviction and subsequent imprisonment–she treads where even angels wouldn’t go. And if she isn’t careful, she may meet the angels before she’s meant to!

So, light the fire if the day is cool enough to warrant it, pour a cup of coffee or tea, prop your feet up and read a cozy mystery as Thanksgiving’s afterglow continues.
