I thank God for the morning, for the freshness of rain-washed air, for new light as it clears away the shadows of the night. I thank God for the promise of another day that comes with the rising sun, as surely and certainly as it has since the beginning of time.
I thank God for the springtime and the blossoming of tulip trees and Bradford pear trees, for the jonquils and hyacinths and the early, wild flowers studding the grass like fallen stars, for the birds that return each year, forgetting the perils of the past, gathering grass and twigs to build sturdy homes for another generation.
Yesterday’s worries and concerns are where they belong–with yesterday. This is a new day, a new beginning, a new hope with the promise of possibilities that are limitless. Mercies and blessings, love as boundless as the horizon stretch before me. I thank God for the morning because He is in charge of this new day. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
