Tea for Two

Tea for Two

“So, what do you think?” I asked Helen. “Should I explain more fully about the red rose against the head stone?”

We were discussing the edit of Grave Heritage and I had a few questions about making my meaning clearer concerning Darcy and Flora and their discovery toward the end of the book.

Sometimes an author assumes too much. She knows what she is talking about but do her readers? Or has she not fully explained things?GraveHeritage_frontcover_4-19-16

Although neither Helen nor I drank tea yesterday, I was reminded of the old song, Tea for Two and Two for Tea, etc. Our other Critters were in far-off California or had a conflict in schedule or were beset with health issues. We missed them but are hoping everyone will be here at our next meeting. And, you friends with the health concerns–I pray that all is better soon.

Although Jane couldn’t be with us, she had visited me last week and brought an amusing poem and a picture to illustrate it. That visit brightened my day and I can hardly wait for the other critiquers to hear and see Jane’s work.

Helen has had more of her inspirational stories accepted by a Christian magazine. She also brought three works-in-progress, Feed Me, Feed Me, Second-Guessing God, and Abundantly Blessed. I offered a few suggestions, feeling blessed myself by reading Helen’s work.

Munching on trail mix, sipping coffee and water instead of tea, our discussion ranged far afield and we delved into philosophy. It’s great to exchange ideas and thoughts about what fuels our writing and our outlooks on life in general.

So ended the highlight of the day called the Cozy Critique. Inspired, and with the red rose receiving its proper attention, I bade Helen good-bye and looked forward to our next Cozy Critique.
