Last night I was treated to a light show that only nature could provide. A thunderstorm was in progress and, even if I hadn’t seen the warning on the computer, I would have had a pretty good idea that it was a doozy. Thunder crackled and boomed and rain splatted on the deck. It was a good night for a cup of hot chocolate.
As I stood at the stove, waiting for the milk to warm, I glanced out of my kitchen window. Almost directly above me, lightning shivered constantly, revealing humps and clusters of menacing clouds, their shapes lit before and behind. I didn’t see any bolts crackling toward the ground, but, instead, a brilliant, continuous dance through a troubled sky.
I stood there, entranced, and nearly forgot the warming milk. It was a view I won’t forget.
This morning clouds are beginning to clear away and I can actually see blue sky here and there. I’m grateful for the light show and a glimpse of what was happening, not all that far above me.
Storms can be both awesome or frightening, depending if you’re outside or inside! You got quite a show!
Yes, it was quite a show. Thanks for writing, Morgan.
Nice muse. It stormed down here off and on all night long and into the morning. Nothing horrible, just thunder, lightning and rain.
The rain was really appreciated. We got two inches. Thanks for writing, Linda.
