Ring Out, Wild Bells!

Ring Out, Wild Bells!

Ring Out, Wild Bells

Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
   Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
   The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Happy New Year! And, happy birth month to all you wonderful people who were born in January. Your birthstone is one of my favorites–the garnet, a lovely, deep red stone. Your flower is the carnation. Carnations are used to celebrate many occasions and they have a heady fragrance. You share this birth month with Paul Revere, Betsy Ross, J. Edgar Hoover, and Elvis Presley!

This is a month of beginnings, of looking forward to a new year and hopefully some dreams realized. It’s also a month of appreciating indoor warmth and the simple pleasures of home and hearth.

Think of this month and this brand new year as a fresh journal with clean, white pages. You are the author. Happy writing!

  1. Time to look forward and not look back!

  2. Carol Knapper says

    Wonderful reminder. I had never heard the poem. My special daughter was born January 3rd and I do love her birthstone and pairs well with my May birthstone, a deep green emerald!
