Random Thoughts

Random Thoughts

Sometimes unrelated thoughts which bear no resemblance to each other come knocking at my mind’s door.  Some are borne out of curiosity and some are just casual observations. Some wander in uninvited. Yesterday was that kind of day: random thoughts. So, I jotted a few of them down here in no particular order. None is breath-taking and probably if my mind were more disciplined, these random thoughts would be held at bay; but think how boring that would be!

On a cold day, one of the nicest household chores is folding clothes warm from the dryer.

The thermometer might think the temperature is at twenty-nine degrees, but with a stiff wind blowing, those back yard birds with their feathers turned the wrong way, and I with my can of sunflower seeds, might beg to differ.

While in Ireland, I picked up a small notebook with the name “Aisling” at the top. I supposed that was the company that made it but out of curiosity, I looked up the word this morning. Like just about everything else in Ireland, there’s a story behind it and the word itself means “dream” or “vision”.

What would happen to wars, conflicts, and heated arguments if everyone actually did value and respect everyone else?

A first complaint about my book–the kind that is music to an author’s ears. My friend Peg ordered all three of the Darcy and Flora Cozies. She began with the first one, The Cemetery Club, even though she read it the first time it was published. Her complaint? She can’t get any work done because she wants to keep reading! They arrived in her mailbox Saturday and I believe they found a good home.

My dog is a walking life lesson. He doesn’t worry, gets lots of exercise, doesn’t back down to a good challenge (chasing squirrels), adjusts to new situations with ease, doesn’t give a hoot about living up to his full potential, is fiercely loyal, loves whole-heartedly, and has a taste for good books (so much so that I keep the new books safely out of his reach).
