Rainy Day Thoughts

Rainy Day Thoughts

Rain comes down, thunder growls, and I look out at the dark morning and wonder about a lot of things. A lot of whys and many what ifs, and I ask the Lord to help me live in the moment–right now, today, this morning. As W. W. Bartley said, “For every ailment under the sun, there is a remedy or there is none. If there be one, try to find it; if there be none, then never mind it.”

As I’ve grown older, the never mind it part of that quote has grown a little easier. That is, if I don’t get hung up on the try to find it part.

One thing is certain–this moment in time will never come again. Instead of worrying about the past or the future, I determine that I will find the good things about today and enjoy them. The rain, the sound of thunder, the good morning song of the dove who is out, even if a storm threatens.

Rainy mornings are good for thinking, and coffee and writing the next cozy mystery.
