The picture I am posting today is of yesterday’s rain. Armed with my camera, I braved the elements, disregarding dark and threatening clouds and rumbles of thunder, to get a few pictures! Today’s picture is of a puddle and I happened to snap it directly after raindrops had splashed in, causing circles to spread. Of course, that reminded me of life. When something happens to disturb the surface of things, those rings where the drops hit spread across the surface, ever-widening; all from that one little drop. You may have to look hard and squint a little to see those ripples.
Like the turtle in yesterday’s post, sometimes I get a bit introspective. I imagine we all do. And, sometimes I arrive at some answers to puzzles and other things I don’t understand. Rain is a perfect backdrop for thinking things through, but usually, moments of truth come zinging into my mind totally unexpectedly, in an instant, sort of like lightning sizzling through the dark clouds. And, at times I get an answer to a question I didn’t even know I had.
I found a website yesterday that is insightful and inspirational. If you’d like, you can check it out: www.greatbiblestudy.com. Here are a few things I gleaned from reading it, things that I knew but needed to be reminded of: Faith is like a bucket of water dashing fiery darts (accusations) of the enemy. We are not to meditate on our pasts because it has passed away and our sins are forgotten and forgiven. Since this is true, why go backward? Who can go forward when looking behind?
“Stronghold” is a word I’ve heard described and am learning more about. A spiritual stronghold is a negative, a deception that has taken root and grown in a person’s mind, sort of like an obnoxious weed. It is an incorrect thinking pattern, and unless it is chopped down and roots dug up (this should happen to all weedy thoughts) it grows, taking up space and nutrients from those good plants that we like to have around. And just think–all this from a few little raindrops!
“I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation” (Psalm 13:5).
