It must have been because of the moon. The flower moon, full and close to the earth must have had a powerful pull on me yesterday, because I went for a long walk. The day was sunny with just enough nip in the air to be energizing. Seeing a couple of neighbors along the way and stopping to chat added flavor to the journey.
I miss a lot when I zip along the street in my car, but walking, I see much more–the symmetry of a flower garden, the brightness of someone’s peonies. I smell fresh-cut grass and hear the voices of people working in yards. I’m reminded that life goes on, a little different, quite a bit slower, but behind the caution and uncertainty, there are people and there is hope.
When the next flower moon comes along, what will it look down upon? Will we have returned to normal living? Will we value our families and friends even more? Will we hold more dear the freedoms that patriots have died for? I believe and hope so and hope is more powerful than even last night’s full and lovely flower moon.
