Yesterday a parliamentary contingent from Minnesota arrived in my mailbox. As I carried the box inside, I heard muffled hoots and mutterings. When I opened the box, out they flew–a parliament of the prettiest owls I’ve seen yet and I’ve seen a lot of owls. You can understand that at first they were a bit disoriented. They had made a long trip and probably their sleep schedule was greatly disrupted. Plus, they had not been able to spread their wings in their cramped surroundings.
The birds have great dignity, though, and adjusted quite rapidly. They flew first here, then there, then settled on my fall table arrangement. I guess they felt at home among the pine cones and leaves. I’m really glad there are three of them. Weighty questions and possible answers can come to a standstill because of a stalemate. That can never happen with these owls. The third fellow will always be a tie breaker. I can tell by looking at them that they are founts of wisdom and I can use their judgment in any number of troublesome cases.
My niece Michelle brought them to life in an artistic and loving fashion. Thank you, Missy! Now, if they will just be happy here in Arkansas and not yearn for the cold and snow of Minnesota, they’ll do fine. This writer of cozy mysteries has hit the jackpot! When a writing snag or block intrudes on the flow of words, when I am puzzled about how many and what kind of clues to scatter through the pages of my current book, I have only to ask the three wise birds. The possibilities boggle my mind!

Those are really cute
Thanks, Deb.
What a cute posting! They look quite at home in their new surroundings – I’m sure they’ll be very happy there for years to come! I noticed that they all had quite distinct personalities just in the short time they lived here, so I’m certain that you’re in for a great many discussions with these new critters! Enjoy!
Yes, we’ve already discussed Grave Heritage and they’ve given me their accumulated wisdom on the direction Darcy and Flora should go. Amazingly, they all three agree. You’ve done a good job in getting them to be agreeable.
Those owls are darling.
Yes, they are. Missy did a good job. Thanks, Helen.
