Carolyn’s orange rolls caused quite a stir yesterday as we sat down for our critique. They tasted as good as they looked and, with coffee, were a delicious way to start our discussion. Carolyn wrote a clever poem about them. According to her poem, they involved “rising, punching down, dirtying up a mess of bowls.” But, the result was worth the effort.
An artist as well as a poet and a gifted baker, Carolyn brought a painting of a pair of shoes. We all admired it and could imagine it framed and hanging on her wall.
Nancy, author of The Grace Impact, is leaving this morning for a Mid-South Christian Women’s Conference in Collierville, Tennessee. She will be leading workshops on beginning blogging. She also did a guest blog on True Agape.net on “Five Ways to Deal with Marriage Expectations.”
Jane wrote a get-well poem for a friend which was designed especially for him. Changing gears, she read to us a children’s story she had written about Pokey Dog. This little dog had dots on his ears and, because he was different, the other dogs shunned him. However, he was a special Christmas dog and realized he was unique and worthwhile after all.
Peg, who is a dedicated reader of the Bible also likes to read cozy mysteries. She is eagerly awaiting a whole bunch of cozies she pre-ordered. When they are released, she’ll have hours of enjoyable reading. Now, she is reading Candle in the Darkness by Lynn Austin and Murder at the PTA, by Laura Alden.
A nice thing about a critique is having several sets of eyes look at something I’ve written. I read the teaser for By the Fright of the Silvery Moon and was rewarded by several suggestions which can only make the teaser more appealing.
The warm fireplace, hot coffee and delicious orange rolls brightened a cloudy day. The Cozy Critters left, eager to come back for our next chat together.
Sounds like a great time!!
It was, Lynn. I wish you could have joined us. Speaking of which, would you be interested in exchanging guest blogger posts? Thank you for writing.
