As my publisher often says, encouragingly, “Onward.” So, I’ll just do this little bit of looking back at yesterday and then move on, ever nearer a new year.
It was such a blessing to worship with my family yesterday. The day started with brunch at their church then we sang good, old-fashioned carols and heard the spiritual application. I, who don’t often have the chance to sing old carols, opened my mouth and sang lustily. Maybe a bit rustily too, but I won’t dwell on that.
Here at home, we lit the final Advent candle, the white, Christ candle, and read the appropriate verses. I’m glad we’ve incorporated that as part of our yearly tradition. And, food, oh my goodness! I am grateful to the good Lord for providing for us.
Did we get snow for Christmas? No, we got rain and warm weather. The temperature must have been near seventy. I had turned on the fireplace for atmosphere, but I turned that off and opened doors. Some Christmases are like that. Warm.
Any day spent with my family is a good day and Christmas is especially meaningful. Any house filled with family or friends, with love mixed in, is a home. How blessed I am to have all three: family, friends, home.
It was good to see you yesterday!
You too, Judy. It was a special day.
