Not So Mysterious Manos Meadows

Not So Mysterious Manos Meadows

Where did I come up with the name Manos Meadows? Well, it’s like this. That was the name of our home and a few acres near Tahlequah. So, I keep that title because it reminds me of home. It was not a fancy place. But in June, honeybees buzzed around the hive in the pasture, meadowlarks and quail called through the tall grasses, and sometimes at night, a coyote cried from the distance. In June, whippoorwills called from the woods and  owls sent messages to each other.

So, now that I’m in Arkansas, I’ve kept the name, just a bit of Oklahoma that came with me. I suppose I could call this Manos Meadows East, although there are no meadows, just a small yard. Bees still come to clover, but their hives are elsewhere. Meadowlarks and quail prefer open land with few cars, but I have birds coming to the bird bath in the back yard and I do believe I may have a family of rabbits under the storage building. I’ve seen only two babies but I suspect more.

And, inside the house, the computer clicks a lot, pounding out the next cozy mystery. Nemo is my companion, checking to be sure no lions or tigers are lurking near. He does a good job. I haven’t seen a single lion or tiger since moving here.

Tomorrow is the last day you can order By the Fright of the Silvery Moon as a free ebook from Amazon. Also, The Cemetery Club, the first Darcy and Flora cozy mystery, is only $1.97. My publisher hasn’t told me how long that special price will last. The other four books are available for many hours of fun reading. What better way to start a new month, the month which ushers in summer? I hope June is a wonderful month for you, full of love and joy and good health. And, may every mystery you encounter be a cozy one!
