“You may tire of reality but you never tire of dreams.” — Lucy Maud Montgomery (November 30, 1874-April 24, 1942)
Today is the birthday of the author of Anne of Green Gables. If you haven’t read the book, you have missed an excellent and unforgettable story. The book was made into a movie which has been shown on television several times. It is a classic and the sort of story to keep and re-read through the years.
Lucy Maud Montgomery was born in Canada. Since she wrote so many delightful books, I would think her books were a reflection of her happy life but that isn’t the case. Miss Montgomery’s life was not happy and was filled with challenges, disappointments, and a stern and seemingly loveless childhood. However, she had dreams which resulted in her unforgettable books. She left the world a better place.
This morning, I was thinking about dreams, hopes, ambitions, goals, and how they keep us going. Even in the face of adversity and really awful situations, we can dream. What a blessing!
This is one of her quotes that really appeals to me: “Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?”
Dreams and imaginations are lovely sunbursts in a dreary day. When too much reality crowds in, we can always dream. Ever bright and new, to the sky and beyond, our dreams know no limit “Because when you are imagining, you might as well imagine something worth while.” (L.M. Montgomery)
