Those are my thoughts this morning: here, there, everywhere. Murky and meandering, yes, but I believe they are coherent; at least, they are to me. Last night, Sara, Nathan, and I had a rousing game of Monopoly. Now, Monopoly is always fun but it becomes hilarious when Nathan rolls the dice. He really gets into it, doing an upper body dance for emphasis. Sara keeps us straight, though, and reminds us that we can’t collapse with laughter after every dice roll.
A second interesting thing is crowding my thoughts this morning. Yesterday, I got the newsletter from my grandmother’s birthplace in Georgia because I belong to their genealogical society. The front page carried an intriguing document concerning my grandmother’s grandparents. Written in legalese in the old-fashioned terminology of the 1850s, it left me scratching my head. Is it a will? A mortgage? A marriage contract? I don’t know. It’s a mystery for this writer-sleuth to solve.
And the third piece of news from yesterday, an exciting, exhilarating happening–the Ecopy of the proposed front and back covers with teasers and blurbs for The Cemetery Club, Grave Shift, and Best Left Buried!! Well, it is so heady and so thrilling that it’s hard to keep my feet on the floor this morning. I would say it’s akin to the feeling a mountain climber has when he reaches the summit of the peak after an arduous climb and sees a miniature landscape far below him.
Altogether, this is a wonderful way to begin a beautiful week in autumn, one of the last days of September. May October be just as blessed!
