We are all movin’ on through life. It seems to me (and correct me if I’m wrong) that the way a person walks or moves is a reflection of who he or she is. Let’s see if I can say that a little more clearly.
We stride into life with different gaits.Of course, for reasons beyond our power to change them, some of us can’t walk or, at best, we hobble. Even then, we have an aura about us as we move. I don’t mean anything mystic or misty or other-worldly. Maybe it’s an inner attitude that shows up in the way we get around.
Have you ever lain in bed at night and heard another family member get up to prowl through the refrigerator or switch on the television? You can pretty much tell who it is by the way he or she walks.
A confident stride, a quick, hurried step, a slow, purposeful walk, a heavy tread, a light quick pace, pretty much shows who we are.
My mother said when her three older sons were out at night, and she lay awake listening for them to come home, she could pretty much tell which young man had arrived by the way he walked across the porch. Interesting. We are intricate creatures.
The morning is dark here in my corner of Arkansas. A slight mist fell earlier but there’s not much coolness about it.
I thought I heard the muffled hoot of an owl but couldn’t be sure. It’s sort of a mysterious-looking start to the day.
Speaking of mysteries (didn’t you know I would?) the fourth Darcy and Flora cozy, Grave Heritage is due to debut in only a little more than a month. I’m excited about it and I hope you are too. In it, Darcy and Flora are movin’ on with life in a brand new house on Granny Grace’s acres. But, for some reason, mysteries always pursue them.
