I’ve lost something! I am embarrassed to tell you what it is because I should have kept it in a safe place and I thought I did. So, to help with the frustration, I’ve found a rhyme flitting through my head. Before I lose it too, I’ve captured it and put it on this page, where it belongs. Poems, at least, are not easily lost.
I’ve looked low, I’ve looked high. If I don’t find it, I will cry!
I’ve searched here, hunted there. Believe me, I’ve looked everywhere.
It’s in a place I cannot see; location is a mystery!
There is another mystery of life that I find truer and truer the older I get. I can put down a small item on the table, turn around once or twice, and it’s gone! What happened to it? I tell myself that with increasing years, knowledge and facts and happenings increase too and crowd out a lot of things I need to remember. Do you believe that or would you rather think another explanation is that a small, mischievous elf lives near-by and delights in stealing stuff and putting it where I can’t find it–sometimes, for years!!
Anyway, this sunny November day is leading to a rainy tomorrow when the month departs in favor of the last month of the year. In spite of losing things, it pays not to lose track of the swift passage of time!
The Lord bless you and keep you close to His heart and in the shelter of His mighty hands.
I have the ability of putting things in safe places where I can’t find them. However, I have one solution that almost always works for me when I can’t find something. I ask St. Anthony to find it and he usually comes through!
Thanks for writing, Morgan. I’m glad somebody else puts things in safe places and can’t find them without prayerful help.
