Little Surprises

Little Surprises

Life is full of blessings, large and small, but many times we don’t recognize them as blessings. How many of us have prayed for healing and when healing comes about, the doctor or the medicine gets the credit? We ask for safety and good health, for no unfortunate hitches in our lives and then complain about just another ordinary, boring day.

And then, there are those little things we didn’t even pray for: an unexpected telephone call from a dear friend, a parking space close to the pharmacy, a compliment from a stranger, a passage in a book that is particularly meaningful.

It’s fun for us to do small things for our children and grandchildren, to plan happy surprises: a note tucked inside a lunch box, a favorite shirt neatly hanging in the closet, chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk at the end of a school day. God too has unexpected and happy surprises for us each day. Look for them and thank Him. “This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).

  2. I LOVE this post. Our family is dealing with so much, if I were to write a book, people would believe it to be pure fiction. Yet, I believe God has a plan and He is in control! Every morning when our daughters awaken I thankful that there is hope for tomorrow. Thank you for sharing.

And thank you for writing! You have made my day! I pray things get a lot better for you and your family very quickly. It does seem when it rains, it pours. There’s always hope for tomorrow. My family and I were talking about hope today and how it leads to faith. God bless you.

  3. Big days are made up of little things, and I believe there’s a blessing in each one.

  4. This is so true. I love that verse it is one of my favorites
