Whew! What a night! Lightning popped and sizzled; thunder crashed and Nemo paced. Because he wasn’t asleep during the heavenly fireworks, neither was I. What is it about a storm that terrifies some animals? Do they feel an electrical charge in the air? Is it the noise? Are they afraid that the turbulence is going to come inside? Wish I knew.
Anyway, I’m bleary-eyed from lack of sleep. It’ll take a good many cups of Folgers to help matters at all.
This morning, although everything outside is soggy and the sky is cloudy, it isn’t raining nor are lightning and thunder stomping through the heavens. All is peaceful inside the house and out. However, I’m not sure how long this will last because more rain is forecast.
Storms are wonderful things to use in stories. In every book I’ve written, the weather plays an important part. And, a stormy day is a great time to write or read. So, whatever the weather is at your house, I hope this day you find the time to lose yourself in a good mystery. Happy reading!
