I’ve thought quite a bit about my blog this morning and it would be so much easier not to write it, but, this is the Sunday set aside to consider the value of human life and I cannot ignore that. Many people won’t agree with me and that’s fine. However, I truly don’t want to know your reasons. I will not argue. Close-minded of me, isn’t it? Yet, there it is.
When legalized abortion became law, many years ago, I wrote my senator expressing my disbelief that such a thing could be made legal. His answer, “Well, a woman has her rights.”
Sure, I agree. Both women and men have our rights, our freedoms and we also have our responsibilities. And, the argument today is, “Don’t tell me what to do with my own body.” Well! I really didn’t know that anybody came equipped with two heads, four arms, four legs…or is that another person’s body that she carries inside? And, what about this unborn person’s rights?
We all began life in the same way. Nobody can create another individual with all the intricate body parts so harmoniously attuned. We’re here because our mothers didn’t choose to abort us. We were given the irreplaceable gift of life. I wish that every tiny, unborn person would be given that right too.
Amen
Thanks for writing, Janet.
