As you know, I’m a weather watcher. I like the changing outdoor scene. If the meteorologist suggests snow is on the way, I eagerly watch for that first flake. I’m one of those people who makes sure there’s enough bread and milk if a storm is forecast, so I head for the store. (By the way, I’m glad I went yesterday while the weather was mild.)
So, today should be interesting. A little rain, a little freezing rain and sleet, a little snow. Not that I like ice–it is one of my least favorite forms of weather–but I watch for it and dread hearing that click, click of pellets against the window. Then, I anxiously hope that people don’t slide off the road or fall on a slick sidewalk.
Whatever the weather is in your area, please stay safe and well. We don’t want broken bones or banged noggins. A book is a safe thing. Yes, a book and a warm room and a comfy chair and a cup of good, hot Folgers. What kind of book? Why, a cozy mystery, of course. Enjoy a safe and shivery adventure while the sleet or snow falls just outside the window.
Last night lying in bed, I listened to the wind blowing at 40 m.p.h. Our windchill was -20, regular temp -1 when I woke up. The high is 5 degrees today. We’ve had much lower temperatures.
It is beautiful out there with all of the snow. But as you mentioned, it is a good day to read a cozy mystery. Stay warm, Blanche.
Thanks for writing, Susan. I can imagine you listening to the wind on a cold night. I’ve never enjoyed hearing the wind. I think it sounds lonely. Your weather sounds pretty frigid and it is, indeed, a good time to stay inside and read a cozy mystery. The snow sounds beautiful. So far, we don’t have any more. But, it is cold!
