The phone jangled me out of sleep last night and an automated voice warned me to take shelter because the weather center had issued a tornado warning for my area. I stumbled out of bed, called Dawn and learned that she and Matt had gotten the same warning and were monitoring the situation. So my dog and I went to our “safe room”.
The thunder sounded odd, hollow and loud and lightning exploded in the darkness. Nemo was worried and pressed up against my leg. I patted his head but he was restless and wouldn’t settle down.
Tornado sirens went off all over NW Arkansas and NE Oklahoma. A funnel touched down in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. And the weather continues to be threatening today.
A bevy of robins chirps a chorus of praise that they are permitted to see another morning. A mourning dove joins the medley of songs. I’m not chirping or singing but I too am thankful that although clouds still brood over us, my family and I are blessed to see another day dawning. It is a privilege.
