I’m convinced this is Tuesday. Yesterday, I was convinced today would be Wednesday. For some reason, I was one day ahead all yesterday. I had rolled my trash can halfway into the yard before I realized–whoa! I’m one day off. Not to worry. I’ll probably get my days straight before tomorrow. Maybe.
It’s such a beautiful, cool morning. The trees nod in agreement. I love these ordinary days. The dog walkers have gone down the hill. They’ve walked the same little dogs for years now. Those dogs must be getting up in years, but they still pad right along, spry as can be.
My back yard is a haven for birds this spring, mostly blackbirds, but, that’s ok. They’re interesting too. For example, I found out that blackbirds like to drop their food into the water. I suppose they are trying to wash it. I applaud their cleanliness, but it makes the bird baths messy. Robins, too, flock into the back yard. Now and then, cardinals. I hear wrens with their cheery song and a woodpecker rattling away on a tree somewhere. The squirrels are busy with their babies. They seldom come calling.
I was puttering around in the back yard yesterday when I heard a little voice calling, “Over here.” Peg was at her back fence. So, we had a friendly chat over the back yard fence.
A nice-sized hollyhock grows in my back yard. It is such a neat surprise, because I planted it two years ago. Last year, I was convinced it had died, but this spring, up it came! It now has buds that are opening into the most beautiful ruffly red blossoms. I’ll post pictures in a day or two.
Nemo likes these lazy days too. He doesn’t know it yet, but today is his day at his doctor’s office for his yearly shots. I don’t think he minds, though. He has been there so much during his ten years that he pretty much knows everyone.
So, on into the day. Whatever your day holds, I hope you enjoy good health, safety, and a huge helping of happiness.
