Stupid Cupid, you’re a real mean guy. I’d like to clip your wings so you can’t fly. It’s best to click on those lyrics and listen to Connie Francis from way back in ’58 as you read this posting. Many of you weren’t born in 1958 and this may be an eye-opener to the way some songs were sung way back when the earth was as yet still cooling.
Valentine’s Day is a day for love, but so is every day. There’s another song: Love Makes the World Go ‘Round. Whether it is true or not, love is what makes life worth living. Not only romantic love, but love of children, grandchildren, parents, friends, country, a passion for life. Love! It’s that wonderful, heady feeling that puts wings on feet and a dusting of stardust in the eyes.
In the dim and dusky past (maybe not as dim and dusky as when Connie Francis sang) I sold a poem or two to a Confession magazine. Although I’m confessing that here, never fear! In those days, there were two groups of Confessions–the clean and the Raise Your Eyebrows. Believe me, mine were of the former group. So, I’ll close out this Valentine Day Rambling with that poem. And, I’m hoping that there’s love in the words you say and hear today, in happy little surprises along the way, and in the warmth you feel in your heart. Love! May you be blessed with it
